GreatNews.Life is looking for a Sports Staff Writer to join our team spending days, nights, and weekends for everyday high school sports happening in the Region. These pieces will include, but not be limited to: individual players, history of the team, a specific rivalry, preview or recap of season, etc.

GreatNews.Life, publishers of Valpo.Life, Portage.Life, LaPorteCounty.Life, and NWI.Life, is seeking a Sports Staff Writer to join our news team. The ideal candidate will be driven and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic, committed to the Life Site mission of connecting our community with exclusively positive news, all day, every day.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Engaging with people in the community and positively on social media to promote the content created for our four sites, and serving as an ambassador for good news in the communities we serve
• Meeting tight deadlines
• Being available to work nights and weekends
• Being an effective communicator both in person and electronically via email, social media, and Google Drive apps
• Having reliable transportation and the ability to communicate with the editorial team via phone while writing sports driven pieces.
• Operating project management tool, navigating, and processing necessary information needed for each article assignment
• Running stats reports of local high school sports current to that season

• Solid writing background
• Knowledge of AP style
• Tenacious
• Personable and professional with effective communication skills
• Efficient
• Responds well to constructive feedback in individual and group settings
• Enthusiastic, positive, professional “Lifer” persona, willing to promote the content published on our sites and support the Life Site mission of blanketing the community with positive news.
