In this job, the Sr. Advisor will be a part of the Catalina Strategy & Planning team, reporting to the Director of Catalina Operations & Strategy. The position will work directly with Catalina Operations, Asset Management & Generation Strategy, Major Projects & Engineering, Catalina Strategy & Planning team members, and support organizations – to develop, maintain, and execute the long-term Catalina electric utility strategy. In addition, this position will lead continuous improvement efforts for the electric utility, and lead the development performance plans, dashboards, and targets to achieve the long-term strategy. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Lead development of long-term electric utility strategy, focused on achieving Catalina specific power mix targets in alignment with California’s GHG emission and air pollutant targets
- Support the development of electric Utility benchmarking, and lead development of key operational performance metrics (e.g. utility loss rates, generation portfolio availability, power quality, emission rates/efficiency, power outage...etc)
- Lead continuous improvement program/initiatives for electric utility (e.g. Customer Experience, Operational Performance, Reliability, Costs/Affordability...etc)
- Support Catalina Repower and Catalina RFO ongoing key efforts/initiatives
- Lead/support business unit regulatory work for electric utility needs (e.g. Electric GRC, Catalina RFO application, BE Application, added facilities agreements, land rights/easements…)
- Lead/support business unit electric utility financial performance & management efforts (e.g. O&M, Capital Budget, Third-Party Funding…)
- Interface with senior management, operations, and cross functional teams regularly to drive ongoing deliverables, status updates, and to present findings and recommendations for decision making
The essentials
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Possesses ten or more years combined experience in leading/managing projects, engineering, project development, project execution, contract management, vendor negotiation, procurement and/or construction management
- Must demonstrate direct experience with the management of projects throughout the Project Management Lifecycle
The preferred
- Master’s Degree
- Project Management Certification and/or Project Management Professional Credential
- Lean Six Sigma (or similar) certification at a Black Belt level from a recognized company or institution
- Identify risks appropriately, develop and execute plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers
- Experience building presentations, facilitating meetings, and presenting to a variety of audiences and levels across the organization
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate data, context, and implications to business stakeholders
- Experience interfacing and collaborating with executives and senior management and regulatory agencies.
- Strong working experience with MS-Office applications including SharePoint, Visio, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Electrical generation plant operations experience
- Electric distribution operations experience
- Ability to work across departmental boundaries, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers
You should know
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
