Sr Managing Director (Clinical Ops/Alberta)
Position Description
Work in partnership with departmental leadership teams to lead and manage clinical operations through the planning, directing, monitoring, coordinating, and evaluating of TTUHSC El Paso outpatient clinics. Responsible for the supervision, quality and education, training and compliance, and clinical nursing practice of non-faculty staff (within the Clinical Operations Orgs) across Alberta, Transmountain and Kenworthy campuses.
Through collaboration and communication, accountable for enhancing TTUHSC El Paso’s capacity to perform by addressing patient care management, strategic leadership, change management, quality management, relationship management, information knowledge management, resource management, and personal/professional development objectives.

Major/Essential Functions
With clinical dept admin teams, design/maintain an integrated system of svcs across all sites/levels of pt. care provided by TTUHSC El Paso in OP clinics and pt. access svcs (procedural/clinic scheduling, clinic checkin-out/referral mgmt/authorizations/verifications). Ensure appropriate implementation/ongoing effectiveness/oversight
Effectively disseminate info about strategic initiatives/process improvements/best practices/innovation through formal plan for communication. Oversee monthly OP clinic ops/svcs mtgs w/accountable dept leaders
Collaborate w/Clinical Affairs leadership/dept chair/med director/frontline mgmt to develop/assure goals are met for pt. satisfaction/pt. safety/quality of care/financial performance/pt. access/mgmt. of resource utilization in OP clinics and pt. access svcs (procedural/clinic scheduling, clinic check-in-out/referral mgmt/authorizations/verifications)
Oversee compliance for Joint Commission/other regulatory and accrediting bodies within OP clinical ops/svcs
Review/recommend operational changes within OP clinical ops/svcs in conjunction w/dept admin. leaders while working in unison to communicate/implement approved changes
With PLSOM admin/dept. chair/med director/administrator/frontline mgmt, coordinate planning/design/construction/operation/improvement of space-planning initiatives within OP clinical ops/svcs
Assist in mgmt of OP clinical ops/svcs. fiscal activities. Provide input into development/coordination of annual budget/allocation of resources/equipment/supply purchasing within OP clinical ops/svcs
Develop/maintain effective staffing models (non-faculty) to support nrsg,/nrsg-support/pt. access staff within OP clinical ops/svcs
Assure appropriate allocation of effort/fiscal responsibility. Recommend/direct/communicate/implement changes
Establish/review/edit/administer non-faculty Ambulatory Clinics admin. Policies/Procedures for OP clinical ops/svcs Ensure staff (non-faculty) adherence. Make recommendations for improvement/Effectively communicate changes to staff/dept admin. leaders
Build/maintain effective unit/cross-unit leadership team. Identify/develop non-faculty staff to lead/participate/serve as effective members within OP clinical ops/svcs. multidisciplinary clinical team
Provide staff opportunities to serve as participants on clinical resource mgmt/process improvement teams
Develop/communicate shared vision for pt/family-centered care in partnership with PLSOM admin/dept chair/med director/frontline mgmt
Effectively manage quality/educational resources for non-faculty staff within OP clinical ops/svcs
Benchmark best practices w/comparable settings
Collaborate w/VP-HR to assure an engaged/competent/diverse workforce within OP clinical ops/svcs by developing/administering policies/programs for recruitment/development/support/retention of staff
With institutional partners/clinical dept. admin. leaders, coordinate development of mktg plans which recommend new svcs/programs and identifies new markets for TTUHSC El Paso OP clinics/svcs
Develop/maintain effective working relationships among/across pt. care and dept. leadership teams. Includes but not limited to: VP-Clinical Affairs/Director-Clinical Affairs/dept chairs/med directors/administrators/frontline mgmt/TTUHSC El Paso exec leadership
Respond to complaints related to OP services, including access and delivery of svcs Investigate and resolve complaints w/clinical dept admin. leaders
Plan/implement the provision of education and training for nrsg students/med assistants etc. Partner w/community programs (EPCC, SWU, etc.) to create/assure internship/externship opportunities within TTUHSC El Paso
Adhere to policies/procedures/practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.)
Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in health care administration or a business-related area
Three years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience
Working knowledge of the principles and fundamentals relating to budgeting, accounting, record-keeping, and business writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; knowledge of general administrative procedures that apply to functions such as personnel, payroll, and purchasing
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to exercise judgment in unusual or new situations, and able to exercise discretion when processing confidential material
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in clinical and nursing practice, education and administration (in academic medical/health sciences center)
5-7 years experience progressive leadership/administrative responsibility in a healthcare delivery system (in academic medical/health sciences center)
Experience with unit operations including human resources, financial management, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory environment with various federal and state agencies and the Joint Commission
Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate effectively with physicians, staff, patients/families and other internal and external customers
Demonstrated ability to establish, build and sustain positive and effective working relationships across all organizational levels
