Position Overview

As the Sr. Designer you will collaborate with the Engineers to design & draft the customer specific DeltaValve current products using SolidWorks. You’ll develop, prepare, and check complex: models, assemblies, drawings, ECOs, bills of materials, renderings, and animations. You will utilize existing PLM systems to manage bills of materials, product life cycle, document management, submittals, and distribution of Engineering documents. You will also be responsible for recognizing, identifying, and correcting product design for manufacturability and functionality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely and collaborate with engineers and engineering management.
  • Design valve components according to applicable Standards (ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B16.34, MSS Specifications, API Standards, etc.) using SolidWorks.
  • Design support equipment for large industrial valves.
  • Prepare accurate, clean, correct and complete drawings using SolidWorks (forgings, castings, fabrications, weldments, exploded assemblies, etc.) & prepare bills of materials to clearly define products that will be provided to production, company suppliers, and customers.
  • Work with PLM systems administrators making sure all documents are entered into the vault correctly and are maintained for DeltaValve's use.
  • Prepare renderings and animations using SolidWorks and other related tools to support sales and marketing in their presentations to customer.
  • Assist and support the Sales and Proposals departments with required documentation.
  • Crosscheck drawings & bill of materials for others to minimize revision changes.
  • Communicate with shop and suppliers to determine the best methods for designing (design for manufacturing) DeltaValve products.
  • Assist in dispositioning and resolving customer, shop, purchasing and supplier issues.

Job Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Technology (strongly preferred), or computer-aided drafting, or a combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Minimum additional 5+ years’ experience working in a design to manufacture environment, preferably designing large equipment using GD&T principles in forgings, castings, fabrications, weldments, exploded assemblies, etc.
  • Proven SolidWorks experience required.
  • Ability to contact and communicate requirements to suppliers and gather information for accurate product evaluation and selection
  • Mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, excellent time management skills, and the ability to problem-solve design techniques
  • Able to interpret technical documents, regulations, and specifications
  • Ability to visualize objects in 3D
  • Proven skillset in design to manufacturing assemblies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English language required)
  • Exceptional working knowledge of mechanical design using SolidWorks
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of ANSI Y14.5M drafting standards
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes involved in production and assembly
  • Ability to demonstrate stack-up tolerance analysis and recommend tolerance schemes to minimize the influence of tolerance stack-ups in large assemblies
  • Correctly apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques and limitations of various processes. (welding, designing with forgings, designing with castings, machining centers etc.)
