You will join a highly skilled team that is pushing the boundaries of medicine by manufacturing new and promising regulatory T cell therapies for a variety of diseases and conditions. These cell-based therapies have the potential to treat autoimmune diseases and help patients decrease their reliance on toxic immunosuppressive drugs after organ transplant. You will assist in the manufacturing of cell therapies for many clinical trials in a newly renovated cGMP cellular therapy manufacturing facility at UCSF. Specific skills and activities include following detailed standard operating procedures for processing of whole blood and apheresis products, cell culture using sterile technique, running assays to test the product, and detailed documentation of manufacturing process. You will also be involved in qualification and maintenance of equipment, reagents, and the GMP manufacturing facility itself. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely are critical to success in this position. You will have the opportunity to take on defined research projects within the larger group and be an author on scientific publications.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.


For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Clinical Laboratories at UCSF Medical Center perform diagnostic or lab tests for patients in our hospitals and clinics as well as for our researchers. These tests are performed in the areas of chemistry, hematology or blood, immunology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, toxicology and transfusion medicine. Laboratories are located at our China Basin, Mount Zion and Parnassus campuses. These labs perform more than 4.2 million tests a year.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Adept in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal/written communication
  • Flexibility in the face of changing priorities and schedules
  • Positive attitude/detail oriented/trainable/can work independently as well as in a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • GMP/Batch documentation experience (1+ years)
  • Aseptic technique w/ respect to cell culture experience (1+ years)
  • Flow cytometry
