Current Assignment
This job announcement is to establish a pool of Storekeeper candidates.
The candidates selected for this position will be responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, parts, tools and equipment; maintains accurate records pertaining to stores transactions; operates a variety of material handling equipment; and performs related work as assigned.
The candidates will be required to pass the District’s selection process to be added to the pool of qualified applicants. The candidates will be required to pass the District’s selection process in order to be selected for this position. The candidate must have a satisfactory driving record, must obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s license during the initial hire probationary period through District sponsored training; and continue to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
The probationary employee must obtain the Class B license within the probationary period, as specified in the SEIU CBA section 26. If the license is not obtained within the probationary period, the probationary employee will not have successfully completed one of the components of the probation; and will be released from probation based on the terms of the CBA. The probationary employees will still be subject to all other terms of probation under the CBA, including regular probationary evaluations.
The Logistics Department may, within its discretion, assign Storekeepers to driving training up to twice a year to ensure all Storekeepers remain current and maintain their driving skill.
Essential Job Functions
1. Stores articles received in proper bins, racks, shelves or floor locations.
2. Assembles and issues materials, supplies, parts, tools or equipment upon receipt of properly authorized requisitions.
3. Packs and prepares materials for transfer to other storage sites or for return to the vendor, if required.
4. Maintains various records of materials issued, including completing purchase requisitions and computerized input forms.
5. Uses a CRT terminal to access and enter stock information; conducts periodic physical inventory of materials, supplies, parts, tools and equipment and assists in reconciling discrepancies with manual or computer-produced inventory control records; marks tools and equipment with District identification numbers.
6. Unpack materials, supplies, parts, tools and equipment; check articles received against back packing list and purchase orders and notes any discrepancies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school
Experience: Two years of responsible experience as a stock clerk or storekeeper in mechanical, electrical or electronic parts warehousing that has included the operation of a minimum 4000 lb. forklift and a 2 1/2 ton truck.
Knowledge of :
- Methods and practices used in receiving, storing and issuing materials, supplies, parts, tools and equipment.
- Basic computerized inventory control and inventory record keeping principles and practices.
- Common units of weights and measures used in stores activities.
- Basic business arithmetic.
- Safety precautions related to the work, including methods for lifting and moving heavy objects with proper equipment.
Skill in :
- Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
- Making arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
- Entering and accessing information from a computerized inventory control system.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Using initiative and sound independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Operating a variety of material handling equipment and vehicles safety.
May be required to work off-hours shifts.
Must be physically capable of standing and walking, lifting to 50 pounds and maneuvering heavier items with proper material handling equipment.
