Job Summary/Purpose:
The Senior Security Training Supervisor reports to the Security Manager. The Senior Security Training Supervisor is the site contact and responsible individual for Training & Qualification of Security Force Members. This position is also responsible for implementing the Security Training and Qualification Plan for Security department operations at an Entergy Nuclear plant, ensuring that all security personnel are administered the required training in a safe and efficient manner as committed in the site Training & Qualification Plan, developing and/or revising security lesson plans and training procedures, approving audit and inspection schedules, reviewing and approving audit/inspection reports, and scheduling training assignments of shift personnel to ensure compliance with site training requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Providing oversight of site Security Training Supervisors; Hiring/promoting individuals to be trained and qualified as instructors, trainers and/or evaluators; Ensuring instructors participate in instructor continuing training; Supervising the qualification and re-qualification activities of EN security instructors; Approving and submitting Security Training Supervisor's timesheets in the Time & Labor Software for payroll; Identifying, evaluating, and mentoring for succession planning and development of Security Training Supervisors; Performing evaluations of Security Training Supervisor's and providing input for incentive and merit; Responsible for disciplining Security Training Supervisors.
  • Overseeing the administration, coordination and implementation of the site Nuclear Security Training and Qualification Program; Approving program improvement recommendations; Developing and/or revising security lesson plans and training procedures; Providing documentation of security training provided in required regulatory format; Developing training schedules/plans; Conducting classroom and firing range training to security personnel; Conducting tactical training to security officers and supervisors in support of the site defensive strategy.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with weapons handling protocols IAW approved training and fleet governance procedures; Ensuring company's compliance with federal laws and regulatory requirements; Review and approval of initial critical task exams; Generating/documenting job, task and needs analysis, to include task-to-training matrix;Ensuring that personnel are scheduled for and receive training when required; Processing completed qualification documents for training records submittals; Publishing an Annual Master Training Schedule for a three (3) year training cycle.
  • Participate in the Security Training Review Group meeting; Performing Leadership Effectiveness Log coaching; Assigning remedial activities to correct identified instructor weaknesses; Assigning mentors to new Instructors/SMEs; Maintaining completed instructor required documents; Ensuring that an evaluation is conducted on SME Instructors teaching in their discipline area; Ensuring instructors are evaluated once per calendar year in all training settings in which that instructor routinely delivers training.
  • Maintaining the security training facilities, to include the firing range; Participating in security Force on Force training exercises; Maintaining current instructor credentials, including but not limited to: SAT, Firearms, State Certifications, as applicable
  • Keeping appropriate company management personnel apprised of security training related activities and conditions; Assisting the Manager, Security Programs in maintaining and coordinating a standardized instructor training program among Entergy Nuclear (EN) sites

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position
  • High School diploma or GED is required, or equivalent work experience.
  • Desired: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Engineering or other discipline generally associated with plant operations.

Minimum experience required of the position
  • 4 years of nuclear plant (preferably in Security), military, or law enforcement experience.
  • Desired: 4 years of supervisory/management experience at an operating nuclear power plant and experience supervising union and contract employees.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
  • Technical proficiency in Nuclear Security or the ability to acquire it rapidly.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
