Position Overview

Under direct supervision of the Dietary Manager, performs tasks in one or several areas on the day/evening shift of the Dietary Department; assists in the preparation and serving of food; distributes food to patient areas; cleans and maintains sanitation of the kitchen and related areas. Sweeps and mops; assists in cleaning dishwashing area and cleans equipment after each use.

Job Responsibilities

Performs tasks in one of the several areas on an assigned shift of the Dietary Department.

Assists in the preparation and serving of food.

Cleans and maintains sanitation of the kitchen and related areas

Operates dishwasher, pot and pan machine, mixers, can openers, disposals, coffee makers, toasters, and any other kitchen utensils.

Distributes food to patient areas.

Maintains records of items removed from storage areas and stock workstations with supplies after each meal service.

Cuts cakes, pies, and gelatin molds according to specifications/portions

Cleans and sanitizes work areas after each job assignment, including special cleaning instructions.

Participates in all Department of Human Services (DHS) and Madden Mental Health Center (MMHC) mandatory training.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in a professional/hospital dietary kitchen.

Conditions of Employment​​​​​​

Per P.A. 098-0566 – Requires ability to complete an ANSI Accredited food handling training course within 30 days of employment.

Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
