Requirements
Must Have
- Basic computer
- Engineering; Mathematics; Chemistry; Drafting
- Must have the ability to ravel out of town with overnight stays while working.
- Must have the ability to travel out of town with overnight stay when distance to project requires travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience in survey field operations, including electronic data collection and use of total stations and GPS. A degree(s) in surveying or relevant field may be substituted per company guidelines for certain years of experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations and laws pertinent to survey field equipment and operations
- Knowledge of surveying principles and practices
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment operation
- Knowledge of engineering principles
- Knowledge of construction principles and practices
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code or National Electrical Safety Code
- Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution line construction and maintenance
- Skill in the use of personal protective equipment
- Skill in the use of handheld manual and power tools
- Skill in performing coordinate geometry calculations
- Skill in performing distribution and transmission line inspections
- Intermediate skill in using surveying data collection equipment and software
- Skill in operating survey equipment (e.g. RTK and RTN GPS equipment, electronic TheodoLite, and hand held Data Collectors)
- Intermediate skill in reading and interpreting diagrams, prints, maps and land survey documents
- Skill in communicating effectively with team members, supervision / management and external organizations under normal and emergency conditions
- Skill in verbal and written communication
- Basic skill level in office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Skill in meeting deadlines
- Basic skill in AutoCAD with ability to edit and plot drawings
- Intermediate skill in writing and drawing field sketches
- Ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment:
- Works in an electrical substation and transmission line environment
- Work hours are spent in a rugged outdoor environment including traversing rugged natural terrain involving significant distances
- Work involves exposure to noise
- Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions
- May involve traveling and lodging out of town
- Work involves weekends, holidays and non-standard hours
- Works in close proximity to energized low and high-voltage electrical equipment and/or lines
- Work requires use of protective equipment
- Work involves exposure to natural hazards such as fire ants, snakes, wasps and other stinging insects and other wildlife
Physical Demands:
- Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard, mouse, hand tools and operating equipment
- Work involves occasional climbing, crawling, crouching or other non-sitting positions in performing surveying duties
- Work involves frequent standing and/or walking in performing surveying duties
- Pushes or pulls up to 35 pounds less than 20% of the time
- Work involves lifting up to 35 pounds from the floor to the waist less than 20% of the time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
