Job Title: Systems Administrator
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Ardent IT Solutions is seeking qualified candidates for a full time Systems Administrator position. This role requires a combination of technical implementation, administration and maintenance capabilities. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of systems and network hardware and software with experience administering Windows Server environments to keep them running optimally and to customer expectations. Qualified applicants should be proficient in troubleshooting a wide variety of issues and are consistently capable of addressing network, systems and applications problems with little to no assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Administrate and maintain Microsoft Windows server environments including Active Directory Domain Controllers, Application servers, Web servers, File servers, and Database servers.*
- Identify and address wired and wireless network connectivity issues and assist users with access network / server resources.
- Create and maintain comprehensive server, network, and application documentation for internal operational purposes and for management and customer reporting.*
- Consult with and educate users, taking direction from customer management personnel and from end users to address their technology needs.*
- Address issues with network and server connectivity including physical connections, permissions, name resolution problems and other related network issues.
- Configure Windows Desktop Operating Systems, including image deployment for desktop and laptop refresh cycles.
- Troubleshoot workstation, server and network issues for customers and end users.*
- Evaluate Information Technology products and services of interest to our customers or Ardent IT management team for internal use.*
- Deploy, configure and troubleshoot application issues, most commonly for the Microsoft Office suite, but also for a variety of business software packages including, but not limited to, Accounting, CRM, Collaboration, ERP and Document Management.
- Willingness to work varying hours depending on the customer or internal need, including the participation in an on-call rotation with other technicians to support customer needs that might fall outside of normal business hours.
- Maintain consistent, accurate and up-to-date detailed time reporting for customer billing and internal tracking purposes.

- Experience working with Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems.
- Knowledge of and experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications and the ability to troubleshoot common user support issues.
- Active Directory management and maintenance experience, including working with computer and user objects, server, printer and application permissions, Group Policy, etc.
- Experience working with Citrix application and desktop virtualization environments.
- Microsoft Exchange Server experience, either in-house or Exchange Online / other hosted deployments.
- Knowledge of common TCP/IP network protocols including DNS, FTP, SSL, HTTP/S, SSH, SMB, NTP, etc.
- Experience working with virtualized server environments with focus on VMware vSphere for server virtualization.
- Experience working with TCP/IP networks (wired and wireless), an understanding of subnetting, network routing and troubleshooting related issues.
- Experience with network switches, firewalls and routers with special interest in Cisco, HP, Sonicwall and Meraki.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree from a university or technical college; and three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training and Certifications:
Technical training and / or certifications through industry leading hardware and software manufacturers are desired, including but not limited to the following:
- CompTIA A+ and Security+
- Microsoft Server, Desktop and Application
- Citrix App & Desktop and Networking
- Cisco Entry and Associate
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Time management skills and the ability to accurately document tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to regularly work with in a team environment and with all levels of users.
- Ability to work with all levels of management (internal and external) to provide guidance and recommendations for technology related goals and products, how best to implement them and which vendors to build relationships with.
- Strong project and team leadership qualities are necessary, including the capability to effectively manage multiple projects and other tasks simultaneously.
- A focus on the quality of work provided, including a customer’s satisfaction with the delivered product or service.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
