WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s North Central & West Texas Regions team, our Field Investigator will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Perform work in the field of air, water, or waste pollution for the Dallas/ Fort Worth Regional Office.
  • Conduct inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which document field activities and conditions.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring; and prepare papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects.
  • Provide assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples.
Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required.

OR


  • Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in environmental activities.
  • Experience interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Experience writing technical or research papers.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
