YOUR LIFE AS A TEACHER ASSISTANT

As a Teacher Assistant with our nonprofit, your primary responsibility is to gather student data and utilize it to develop personalized education plans (IEPs). These plans require frequent revision and updating, and you may receive direction on which data to collect or have the autonomy to collect any information that you feel is crucial to accurately evaluate a student's abilities and needs. A significant portion of your day will be spent working directly with students, escorting them to various activities, the bathroom, and the health office. You may work with one student at a time or support multiple students as needed.

You are also responsible for fetching breakfast and lunch from the kitchen located in the basement and then distributing it to the classrooms. Moreover, you support students in visiting the nurse's office, where you assist in administering medication, provide assistance during emergencies, and encourage the development of students' social and coping skills. Each day, you assist with remote learning, take attendance, distribute work packets, make copies of lesson materials, and help organize the classroom. Your hard work eases the workload of the primary classroom teacher and provides our students with the help they need to succeed.
