GENERAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Assumes primary responsibility for the safe and timely movement of supplies, equipment, and mail to District buildings. Other duties may be assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Loads, transports, and delivers on a timely basis all work requests for items, including but not limited to: office supplies, tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, envelopes, paper, etc. to various schools, shops, and offices; Fill warehouse orders promptly and efficiently maintaining the delivery schedule established by the supervisor; process all delivery packages, shipping and receiving. Maintain assigned vehicle(s) in orderly fashion, requesting mechanical attention as needed.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Media Center – equipment and equipment repair run, books, printing, e-recycling, etc.

2. Food Service – deliveries, summer feeding program

3. Curriculum Development – Pick up, receiving, and delivery of textbooks

4. Special pickup and delivery for all SCH departments/buildings

5. Craft delivery and pick up from all locations and vendors

6. Warehouse deliveries – scheduled and unscheduled

7. Weekly gas deliveries

8. School pickup and deliveries upon request

9. Regular work orders

10. Snow plowing and salting of playgrounds during the day, upon request.

11. Weekly pickup and delivery for the Administration Center and Welcome Center at Columbia.

12. Coordinate the move of materials, furniture, and storage of materials for schools under construction.

13. Custodial Services – pickup and delivery of equipment and materials

14. Athletic Department – deliver wrestling mats and athletic equipment upon request

15. Auctions/Public Sales – coordinate materials to be picked up from various locations and organize for auction

16. Move teacher materials from one school to another

17. Pick up materials donated to the school corporation

18. Pick up blacktop for laborers and deliver to location upon request

19. Pick up tree limbs and trees cut down by laborers

20. Pick up flowers, bricks, mulch, etc. for building beautification program

21. Graduation – Delivery/Pickup of stages and chairs for all schools

22. Holiday programs – Move stage and chairs requested by various schools

23. Move scissor lift, forklift, and front loader for all crafts upon request.


SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR THIS POSITION:

Commercial Driver’s License CDL, Class A

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Ability to safely connect and operate trailers

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, general safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to communicate effectively with individuals or small groups of maintenance, custodial, secretarial employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Ability to apply concepts of basic math

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is frequently heavy work and very heavy work periodically.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and drive a van or large truck; frequently required to drive a forklift and large box truck or drive a front-end loader. During winter months employee is required to operate a salt spreader with attached ladder.

The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently must squat, crouch, crawl, stoop and kneel, reach overhead and reach forward, frequently required to walk up and down stairs, climb up and down ladders, and walk long distances while making deliveries. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools, will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

The employee must frequently work with another person to load, unload, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (unassisted) heavy equipment, large furniture, office equipment, records, cases of books or paper. Occasionally the employee will lift, push or pull, and/or move 90 pounds or more such as furniture, gym equipment, etc. while using material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, or forklifts for such tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors but will work outdoors while transporting between locations. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays and non-household dust.

The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Frequently the employee will work alone and will sometimes work in temperatures above 100° F. and below 32° F., particularly during winter months for snow plowing and salting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and occasionally will work in a loud area.
