What you’ll do in this role:


Under the direction of the Training Manager for Kohler Power Systems, you will deliver service training programs supporting the Kohler Power Systems product portfolio. Kohler's training programs can be a part of either the power generation or engine service segments of the training department.

  • The sense of satisfaction you will get from helping to enhance the skill set of our distributor's technicians, enabling them to become certified in Kohler's Industrial Power Systems Service Technician Training Assessment program.
  • You get to network with and work side by side others in the industry when you facilitate training sessions. You will share your expertise and facilitate training on various topics such as Industrial Generator & Controls Concepts, Industrial Automatic Transfer Switch Concepts, Small Diesel Engine Service, Large Diesel Engine Service, Marine Generator Service, Advanced Genset Controls, or Communications Concepts.
  • You get to visit different areas of the US! You will likely have 1-2 Domestic trips a year which will range from 4-6 days each time.

Your day-to-day expertise is needed to:

  • Organize and lead service training presentations at the factory for Kohler's distributors, dealers, and customers.
  • Organize and lead Kohler's distributors, dealers, and customers in the factory training labs with hands-on demonstrations, troubleshooting concepts and service programs.
  • Conduct domestic service schools for our distribution, dealers, and customers.
  • Keep track of changes in Kohler's current product lines and modify the service training programs accordingly, including updates for product improvements and quality modifications.
  • Develop all training programs in electronic formats which will include the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word – and possibly aid in development of e-learning programs.

Skills/Requirements

The successful candidate…


  • Will have an Associate's degree or equivalent.
  • You have technical aptitude to perform basic service on generators and/or diesel engines and troubleshooting skills. This is a must-have for this position.
  • You will have experience integrating new products into a training curriculum, such as generator models, engines, transfer switches, communication systems, or software.
  • You have solid computer skills -including knowing how to use PowerPoint. This is important and another must-have for this position. And if you really want to catch our attention, you will have E-learning software development skills.
  • You don't shy away from learning new technologies.
  • You are a "teacher" at heart and your organization skills are the envy of most.
  • And…if you really want to stand out, you’ll have at least 2 years of experience servicing industrial generator systems, engines, or something closely aligned to this.
