GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Technical Writer position completes development and maintenance of documentation with guidance from Senior Technical Writers. General duties include developing and verifying portions of documents, completing editing reviews, and supporting various functions within the writing team. The Technical Writer reports to the Technical Publications Supervisor.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates individual procedures effectively to complete portions of a manual
  • Identifies and completes illustrations and other images to complete procedures
  • Completes editing of portions of documents, including those written by other employees, with a full understanding of all styles and standards
  • Completes basic research and verification, working with subject matter experts throughout the organization
  • Manages portions of documents, providing content to other writers
  • Assists in management of individual projects and tasks
  • Consistently focuses on customer satisfaction

EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-3 years of experience preferred in a technical writing role

EXPERTISE:

  • Technical knowledge, detail oriented, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with and understanding of structure authoring, DITA standard content, and/or content management systems
  • Experience with and understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud software suite
  • Experience with and understanding of Google Suite software
  • Experience with and understanding of ERP systems
  • Experience with and understanding of CAD/PIM systems
  • Effective listening, oral, and written communication skills, including confident communication with superiors and peers
  • Organized planning for managing daily tasks, with effective time management
  • Ability to distinguish between crucial and trivial tasks, with effective prioritization of daily and weekly activities

EDUCATION:

  • Education or experience in both communication and a pertinent technical field, or expertise in either communication or a pertinent technical field and demonstrated competency in the other
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical communications or equivalent, or Bachelor's Degree in communications or engineering and demonstrated competency with communications and technical information

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

Internal customers the position will interact with:

  • Technical communications colleagues overseas
  • Engineering and product development team members
  • Service, parts, and training support personnel
  • Legal, marketing, and other subject matter experts
  • Sales and product management team members

External customers the position will interact with:

  • Dealer network and end users

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located in West Bend
  • Travel up to 10%
