The Technician will work in the Genomics department at CMBP and provide support for both Genomics and Molecular work performed at CMBP. This position requires working with several different support groups and becoming familiar with a wide variety of tests performed by the department.

First Shift: Sunday-Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Reviews test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included. This includes identifying mis-orders and contacting clients to obtain information necessary to complete testing performed at CMBP.

Processes add-on testing that is requested by clients, pathologists, genetic counselors, or directors.

Monitors lists of samples pending testing and notifies appropriate testing staff.

Investigates and resolves problem specimens for the Genomics lab.

Corresponds with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.

Performs other duties as need to meet the obligations of the department and the company.

Follows the department’s procedure for maintaining accurate records.

Understands that all patient information is confidential and complies with HIPAA regulations.

Participates in required Continuing Education activities.

Adheres to department policies and protocols.

Shows a high level of respect for all lab personnel, Supervisor and Directors.

Shows willingness to perform duties until they are complete.

Attends all required meetings and represents department in a professional manner.

Qualifications (education, experience, training required to perform position):

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
