I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Assist the Executive Director in reaching established goals for the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers Georgia Chapter.
II. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handling incoming calls to answer questions, refer callers to other departments, or transfer them to specialists
- Receiving incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate staff
- Responding to incoming calls in an appropriate manner, based on call type and content
- Providing information about NASW/NASW-GA or services over the phone, including but not limited to registering for chapter events/conferences or scheduling appointments
- Assisting with internal communications by answering phones and relaying messages within the chapter
- Providing post-call follow-up when necessary to ensure that customers have been satisfied with the experience
- Processing incoming faxes and phones messages and forwarding them to the appropriate person
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work independently in a self-motivated capacity and multi-task within a fast-paced environment which includes answering the telephone.
- Knowledgeable of NASW/NASW-GA’s mission, vision, and policies including but not limited to member benefits
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to drive to ensure that the day-to-day operations when required.
IV. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of audience members.
- Ability to work manage time effectively.
- Detailed oriented and the ability to think critically.
- Strong problem identification skills, including the ability to problem solve and generate creative solutions, exercise common sense and sound judgment, and make effective decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, non-College graduate considered for position but must possess 3 years of Clerical / Administrative Assistant experience and fulfill all other qualifications as outlined above, College Student with two years of Clerical / Administrative Assistant experience considered.
- Social Work education or experience on social policy and practice issues and familiarity with NASW preferred.
Experience:
- Previous work-related experience preferred -- ideally at a professional association and/or nonprofit setting with multiple state locations.

This is a part-time position for six (6) months consisting of 15 hours per week. Established work hours are Mon- Fri with availability to work some Saturdays and or Sundays. Overtime may be required.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
NASW policy generally requires that all employees complete a primary COVID-19 vaccination series and receive a booster vaccination when eligible. (Employees are not required to obtain an updated (bivalent) booster, which became available in September 2022, if they received a booster previously, but are encouraged to do so when eligible.) If an offer of employment is made, the candidate, as a condition of employment, will be required to provide documentation (such as a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card) showing that they satisfy this requirement. If the candidate does not currently meet this requirement but will in the near future, NASW may be able to postpone the start date to allow the candidate to be compliant with the requirement. Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption for this requirement.
