Job Summary
One of the primary purposes of this position is to assure all colleagues are given the information, tools, and training to conduct their jobs effectively and efficiently. This includes organizing, forming, developing, and executing a technical organizational training strategy and overseeing its development, implementation, execution, and sustainability across all departments.
Job Functions
This position reports to the Sr Production Manager.
Essential Functions
- Identify and assess all current and future training needs:
- Creation, implementation, upkeep of skills matrix for all departments
- Development of measurable, effective, and sustainable training documents for all positions.
Coordinate annual mandatory training:- Coordinate all hourly and salary mandatory annual training schedules
Manage subject matter trainers:- Ensures duties are completed timely and efficiently
- Works in conjunction with all departments
- PTO and disciplinary processes for training group
- Evaluating effectiveness of both trainers and material
Maintains all training files; ensuring all are current, accurate, and in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Provide support and guidance to employees in regards to their training and development plans and aspirations.
Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling manager and employees.
Assuring qualified candidates are available for hourly positions within required timeframes. There is a constant need to bring on new employees within all hourly functions. This requires knowledge of interviewing skills and ability to work with supervisors on staffing needs. The challenge is to continuously upgrade the caliber of human resources available through effective training and development programs.
Works with Sr. HR Specialist to assure the candidates selected through posting/pre-bid system have training plans set in place prior to placement. As well as ensuring training is executed on time and within budget.
Responsible for maintaining training budget.
Adhere to safety program and participate in behavioral observation program.
Decision-Making
- Selection of appropriate training and delivery materials
- Working with supervisors in training and development of all employees
- Determining most appropriate format to present data/information in reports.
Principal Contacts
- Daily contact with all levels of employees at Grand Island location to gather and provide information, to guide supervisors to take appropriate action in the hiring of qualified candidates, training and development process; to assist in resolving employees' problems (i.e. insufficient training, etc.)
- Daily contact with supervisors and employees to resolve employee relations problems and issues regarding policy/procedure interpretation, performance appraisal, hiring, staffing. Work closely with supervisors and employees to develop teamwork and improve interpersonal skills.
- Outside services such as tech schools and colleges to develop
- Human Resources to assist in gathering information, to assist in the, to obtain service awards and information (Public Relations), and to coordinate payroll information (Payroll).

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, college degree a plus.
- Require interviewing skills and working knowledge of relevant laws relating to the employment process and human resources.
- Three to Five years of training and skills development. Both technical and soft skills required.
- Skills and Knowledge
Employee is responsible for working with all levels of employees. This must be done in an extremely professional and courteous manner. Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality due to the types of information employee has access to. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail is critical. Must be self-motivated and have ability to work with little direction.
Familiar with business office procedures; Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access currently used.)- Ability to gather critical data, find new and/or creative solutions, develop/execute sound/correct conclusions/decisions/judgments on a timely basis in the following areas: Employee/Labor Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Staffing/Recruiting Hourly Employees, EEO/AA, Policies and Procedures (Employee Handbook, Supervisor's Manual), Employee Involvement.
- Employee disputes, complaints, - Actively listen to problems, investigate thoroughly, work with all involved to develop alternatives and reach final resolution, document and provide appropriate follow-up.
- To ensure the Grand Island facilities remain in legal compliance in the Employee Relations, Employment, Compensation/Benefits, EEO/AA functional areas (i.e. Wage & Hour, Equal Pay Act, Drug-Free Workplace Act, OFCCP/EEOC/NEOC, WARN, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, etc.)
- Effective communication skills; professional telephone skills.
- Ability to respond well under pressure.
- Ability to work as a team member.
