General Description:
The Training/Inservice Coordinator is responsible for improving the awareness, effectiveness and productivity of Mount Aloysius’s employees. This position assesses the facility’s developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees including but not limited to; new hire onboarding, initial new hire training, annual inservice training and interactive sessions including hands-on DSP and apartment training. This positions actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, and enhance performance. He/she must be willing to familiarize self with the work rules and procedures of the facility, and state and federal training requirements, and have a willingness to gain awareness of services to persons who are developmentally disabled. The position will exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 more of the time) to move objects. In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demand strength ratings, this is considered light work.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Conducts new hire training, annual training and development of needs assessments.
- Develops and maintains an orientation assignment system.
- Implements and update as necessary, the general orientation checklists and material for each new employee.
- Provide and/or arrange for inservices for all employees based upon their departmental needs.
- Maintain, review, and update staff training records as required by State, Federal, and Medicaid regulations.
- Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification.
- Obtain and maintain Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
- Obtain and maintain Right Way Training Instructor.
- Conducts regular check ins with new hires and their supervisor within the initial 30 days of employment to identify any additional training needs.
- Conducts initial 30-day evaluation of newly hired DSPs.
- Works with DSP’s providing an introduction to residents, apartment routines and provides hands on training with residents including but not limited to; Individual Service Plans, Activities of Daily Living Skills, diet orders and meal preparation/delivery, active treatment, training plan implementation and documentation.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrates and understands Mount Aloysius Policies.
- Maintains required licensure and certification.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Human Resource Generalist or Administrator.
