Job Summary and Qualifications

The Quality Coordinator performs highly complex, confidential and analytical assignments with minimal direction from the Director. Coordinates & manages multiple projects within specified time frames related to data analytics & quality with respect to regulatory issues. Includes auditing, submission of data, QAPI committee preparation, dashboard creation and monitoring PDCAs to ensure compliance with UNOS and CMS. Computer literacy includes Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint, Access database and specific use of TransChart and Meditech. Supports the Transplant Director. Collaborates with the Quality Department as required.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Colorado RN license, Licensure in a healthcare related profession, or equivalent years of experience in healthcare quality. CPHQ or other Quality Certification preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Experience: Minimum of three years experience in healthcare quality. Understanding of medical terminology. Experience working with data in excel to analyze, define a problem or opportunity and propose solutions.
  • Special Qualifications: Understanding of UNOS policies and CMS standards, MSDRGs, ICD procedure code, ICD diagnostic codes.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work well & collaborate with a diverse group of employees and medical directors. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to absorb and apply new and changing information

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Responsible for regulatory compliance with CMS, UNOS and other bodies that regulate and grant certification for our center to perform solid organ transplants
  • Reports compliance issues to Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director & Director of Transplant for resolution
  • Briefs the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Quality on any material changes in CMS or UNOS regulatory changes or department policy and procedure
  • Represents the transplant center along with the Director during surveys from CMS, UNOS, and Joint Commission
  • Generates required reports and lists of patients and data requested by survey teams from TransChart
  • Manages all plan of correction related documents from CMS and UNOS
  • Compiles and submits all data related to organs, recipients, donors, and other statistics as required
  • Ensures accuracy of outcomes data submitted to UNOS for SRTR which is the public quality profile of the programs as shown on www.srtr.org
  • Biannual aggregate data submissions for pubic release in January and July each year
  • Audits charts and documentation to identify gaps for PDCA based performance improvement
  • Ensures physicians in the program timely submission of time sheets for the Medicare Cost Report each month
  • Utilizes TransChart to create dashboards for QAPI and other regulatory compliance monitoring
  • Compiles evidence of compliance with CMS QAPI requirements
  • Collaborates with the QAPI Committee Chair to organize and prepare for QAPI meetings
  • Shares QAPI committee work product with the Quality Department
  • Maintains and/or monitors timely submission of all forms to the UNOS through UNET

Degree of Supervision Required:

  • Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Transplant. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
