Job Scope:

Currently seeking an On-Site Transportation - Operations Manager with expertise in the automotive industry and or transportation experience such as auto auctions, car rental or fleet management. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and staffing a group of 30+ hourly driving employees plus Lead Van Drivers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Employee engagement, hiring, management and development.
• Drive key performance indicators such as operational efficiency and a high level of productivity pertaining to dispatch, fleet vehicle maintenance, scheduling of vehicle pick-up and deliveries.
• Development and grow relationships with auto auction management team as well as automotive dealerships.
• Grow market share in drive-away service and on-site staffing.
• Highly effective in scheduling employees and managing resources.
• Plan, develop and implement transportation policies and goals.
• Maintain active and visible role with drive team employees to ensure high quality service and performance.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of all areas of local drive away transportation business to ensure operational efficiency and economy.
• Maintain ongoing awareness of automotive market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes.
• Review and monitor weekly financials, develop and communicate goals to regional management and direct reports.
• Review, monitor and approve all accounts payable relating to the operation.
• Foster an environment where safety is paramount. Ensuring all training and safety measures are implemented and monitored regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of the Greater Kalamazoo area for transportation purposes
• 2-4 years’ experience in managing a stand-alone operation in the automotive or logistics field
• 2-4 years’ experience in transportation industry preferably vehicle transport
• Experience managing teams of 25+ drivers
• Strong computer skills
• Strong logistical and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good problem-solving and organizational skills
• Bilingual helpful but not required
• Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background and drug screen
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly
• 20+ years of age
