POSITION SUMMARY:
You will be responsible for decisioning lending opportunities for mid to high level Commercial Real Estate loan transactions. Your work will be supported by thorough analysis that balances risk and growth, ensuring loan structures are appropriate and consistent with bank lending standards and assigning an appropriate asset quality rating. Collaborate with Relationship Managers, internal support staff, and others to provide credit expertise to underwrite and monitor the portfolio.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Minimum 7 years of experience in mid to large scale commercial real estate underwriting, appraisal, or credit analysis with demonstrated skills in areas such as rent rolls, leases, cash flow, market analysis, and guarantor analysis for commercial real estate loans.

- Demonstrated ability to decision large and complex credits, offer structure guidance using financial and legal expertise.
- Strong analytical, organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Pleasant interpersonal skills and effective communication skills, both written and verbal. - Occasional travel to other offices or client locations.
- Ability to clearly communicate risk criteria, respond objectively and with confidence when challenged and involve the Credit Executive as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in business with a major in finance or accounting.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently prepare well written approval presentations, including what is being requested, why it is being requested, analysis of the property’s market and location, the background and history of the sponsor, and key risks and mitigating factors. Such presentations should also justify assigned risk rating and show that the Bank policies, procedures, and regulations are met.
- Develop or review detailed cash flow payment analysis to evaluate adherence to ONB Loan Standards.
- Review and decision loans within your credit approval authority after your probationary period expires.
- Lead projects as suggested/requested by management while maintaining volume and accuracy in underwriting.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of ONB Underwriting guidelines and presentations on a periodic basis.
- Maintain an Individual Development Plan (IDP) which details goals towards achievement of Credit Risk Certified (CRC) with Risk Management Association (RMA) or other advanced level certifications and other internal training classes/programs.
Maintain controls to ensure regulatory compliance. - Review and approve work done by others; act as a mentor and assist in the development of commercial credit analysts and underwriters.
- Assist Commercial Relationship Managers (RMs) in managing workflow via a pipeline process. Prioritization of new prospects, renewals/upcoming maturities, material modifications, as well as developing a working knowledge of prospective opportunities. Accompany Commercial RMs on client and prospect calls in conjunction with completion of the underwriting process.
Review and analyze financials including rent rolls, leases, operating statements, guarantor personal financial statements, global cash flow statements, and tax returns. - Review third party reports such as real estate appraisals, CoStar market reports, property condition reports, environmental reports, and/or property inspections.
- Interact with clients to ensure receipt of financial information necessary to support the underwriting process.
