Job Summary:
- With minimal assistance, assists Production Management in the coordination of production-related activities. Closely interface with production manager/planners/quality to ensure all aspects of production processes are operating within acceptable standards. Direct production activities are not expected but may be performed as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interfaces, closely, with the Production Manager/Planners/Quality to ensure all aspects of production processes are operating within acceptable standards.
- Provides daily assignments and team leadership/coaching/mentoring to the workforce and monitors efficiencies in relation to established expectations and OEE.
- Trains, coaches, and motivates department personnel to effectively meet operational requirements. May train junior unit leaders.
- Ensures compliance with established schedules and reports any deviations to the planner and/or manager and assists in scheduling corrective actions as required.
- Recommends and implements work schedule adjustments to meet production demands.
- Coordinates overtime schedules based on production demand.
- Identifies performance issues and recommends/executes associate performance management as necessary to achieve established productivity goals.
- Ensures compliance with QA, GMP, SOP, FDA, ISO, 5S, and labor standards.
- Ensures accurate reporting of labor hours, production units, inventory, and/or other information relating to manufacturing orders, timesheets, and/or other documents including device history records.
- Oversees and provides methods for initial and follow-up training and cross-training of employees.
- Conducts SOP training as appropriate.
- Oversees departmental training management for quality and EHS documents and procedures.
- Approves and, with guidance, modifies, documents in Pilgrim SmartDocs.
- Focuses on continuous improvement efforts and with guidance, cost reductions through the pursuit of value improvement projects (VIP’s)
- Interfaces, closely, with the department manager to provide time and cost estimates, development of SOP’s and give recommendations for improvement in process methods and/or quality of the product.
- Analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to determine the focus of efforts and/or continuous improvement needs within the department.
- Ensures compliance with monthly spending guidelines while ensuring the department is adequately stocked with expense needs.
- Ensures timely disposition and compliant warehousing of non-conforming material including processing through Pilgrim Smart-Docs, with guidance, and arranging for disposal with EHS.
- Provides technical and mechanical knowledge to analyze and resolve problems.
- Maintains department PMs and work order documentation.
- Conducts initial interviews for potential employees of the department.
- Makes recommendations for candidates to continue the interview process.
- Participates in the internal audit program.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED), College Preferred
Years and Type of Experience:
- 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Typically, 12-18 months as Unit Leader I or II or leadership experience required

- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer proficiency including Word, Excel, BPCS/AX, and email systems.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
