Our client is a global pioneer in smart energy solutions, with a track record of 5.5+ GW of grid-connected projects globally and in the United States. This organization is seeking a highly experienced renewable energy business development leader to join their expanding team and will work with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects, reporting to the head of the US origination team.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):


  • Keep up to date on market developments and industry news/events to immediately identify business prospects.
  • Generate huge distributed generation (DG) and small utility-scale solar project development prospects centered on on-site control and the evaluation of project interconnection, permitting, and revenue contracts.
  • Conduct land, market, regulatory, and project-related research.
  • Identify and organize the greenfield development of solar projects using GIS tools to create and update project maps and databases based on attractive interconnection points in target regions.
  • Identify local early-stage developers who will co-develop with the organization and lead deal structuring and commercial negotiations for project acquisition or other partnership arrangements such as development services agreements or joint development agreements.


Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:


  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or related master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with IPP project acquisition, community solar, northeastern market analysis, multinational environment, legal, and full-cycle development is preferred.
  • Experience negotiating and finalizing business deals with landlords, developers, utilities, regulatory agencies, and off-takers.
  • Expertise in the solar sector, regional legislation, and market procedures.
