We are looking for a talented Utility Analyst, with experience in billing and reimbursement, to analyze and interpret complex data to develop monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, annual budgeting, and forecasting, and develop steps to improve reporting processes and optimize results. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience interpreting budget anomalies and streamlining reporting processes. Excellent analytical and communication skills required, and the ability to make and present solid data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and support the executive team, sustainability and utility departments, 3rd-party biller, and the Essex portfolio of properties.
  • Create a reporting package for utility expenditures and reimbursements, including ownership/creation of an adaptive and predictive modeling process.
  • Fully understand utility allocation and reimbursement metrics.
  • Ability to work independently but also coordinate with a three-person utility billing team.
  • Must also meet crucial deadlines.
  • Analyze and respond to proposed utility rate changes on behalf of Essex.
  • Track projects with utility impact, such as renewable energy upgrades and tax incentives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of utility billing experience required to include overseeing complex non-routine functions and extensive troubleshooting of utility anomalies.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to lead, champion, and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Advanced MS Excel, Business Intelligence (PowerBI), and MS PowerPoint skills required.
  • Other duties as assigned
