Utility Service Technician I Job at City of Callaway Florida
This is a skilled field work position. Work is performed under direction of the Utility Billing Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Turns water service on and off at individual meters in accordance with authorization of supervisor, or in emergency cases as requested.
- Reads and rechecks meter readings from meter books.
- Rechecks meter readings at consumer's request by reading meter and checking for any leaks of the meter.
- Inspects the meter installation, reports faulty meters.
- Inspects visible plumbing for water leakage.
- Answers consumer inquiries concerning excessive water consumption.
- Sets and resets meters.
- Repairs leaks in meters;
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in labor work.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks under only general supervision.
- Ability to drive a truck.
- Ability to work under adverse work conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with fellow employees, City officials and the general public.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience in the use of hand tools.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to insects, spiders, reptiles and other miscellaneous animals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
