Vessel Boarding Agent Job at CENTRAL MARINE LOGISTICS, INC. / INTER SHIP
Position Summary:
Entry level marine operations position applicant to be responsible for coordination of all aspects of vessels port calls along with associated administrative functions. Traditional ships husbandry functions and acts as a liaison between principals, owners, stevedores, US Customs and Border Protection, USCG and all other relevant authorities.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily vessel schedules, update arrival times and notify authorities and terminals.
- Communicate daily with principals, vessel owners and Masters
- Prepare Ship files and relevant documentation prior to vessel arrivals.
- Become familiar with various port areas.
- Board vessels in port on arrival and regular basis.
- Will be expected to learn and execute the following:
- How to order and coordinate pilots, tugs, linesmen, bunkering services and berthing assignments
- Calculation of port expenses for various ports/terminals
- Order various vessel services.
- Preparation of all relevant cargo documents, such as customs forms, waste forms, immigration forms, and shipping documents including freight forwarding.
- Required electronic transmission of cargo and vessel arrivals.
- Review incoming invoices and assist accounting with final approval and billing.
- Perform crew changes when needed.
- Become familiar with various types of vessels, Lakers, bulkers, heavy lift, tankers and cruise vessels.
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways. Must be able to reach, stand, walk, talk and hear. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Agents are subject to various environmental conditions both inside and outside, limited effective protection from weather at times, many physical hazards, such as moving parts, vehicles, heights, and bodies of deep water. Attention to safety is the top priority.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required Minimum of an Associate’s degree preferred but not required. * Knowledge of the maritime industry preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a constant changing work environment
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage high volumes of electronic communication, both in office and while mobile in the field.
- Good Understanding of Microsoft Office or similar preferred.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and adapt to irregular schedules in a 24/7/365 operation.
- Must possess valid Driver’s License in state of residence.
- Must be able to acquire Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC Card)
- Reliable personal transportation required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
