This announcement is for the position of Transportation Engineer (Hydraulics Section - Water Resources Engineer). This position is involved in performance of hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) analyses, modeling and studies for the purpose of providing recommendations for design/construction of drainage features on highway projects. Duties include, but are not limited to, determination of drainage basin hydrologic design characteristics (size, slope, land use, discharges/flood flows, etc.), determination of hydraulic design parameters (water surface profiles/elevations, flow velocities/depths, scour depths, size of opening for drainage structures, etc.), assisting other Water Resources Engineers in the preparation of H&H design information and recommendations, preparation of floodplain development permit applications, and developing a working knowledge of state and federal policies/procedures for design of highway related drainage facilities/features.

The total compensation of Hourly Wage + State/Federal Benefits for a typical year for entry level Engineer is approximately $79,651.00 annually.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in water resources is preferred. Applicant should possess or be eligible to obtain an FE or PE license.

Knowledge of:

  • knowledge of civil, environmental, and hydrologic/hydraulic engineering principles and practices;
  • familiarity with hydrologic/hydraulic design software (HEC-RAS, HY-8, WMS, etc.);
  • basic principles and terminology of computer operation.

Skill to:

  • effectively use Microsoft Office products;
  • communicate effectively.

Ability to:

  • read, interpret, and evaluate engineering plans, and specifications for acceptable engineering practices;
  • organize, analyze, calculate, and evaluate available information and draw upon reasonable conclusions;
  • effectively plan, organize and prioritize work activities to meet schedules and deadlines;
  • work in a team environment;
  • develop positive working relationships.
