Educational Talent Search is a TRIO Program funded by the US Department of Education. The program is currently funded to serve 500 students in grades 6 - 12 from three target schools in Baltimore County, and provides free resources to enhance individual academic success/career awareness, cultural enrichment and personal growth. We offer a variety of services that are available at no cost to eligible students at targeted schools.

Position Overview:

The Academic Coordinator advises and provides academic support to Talent Search Participants. The incumbent works with key personnel at target schools to connect with participants and deliver necessary program materials, workshops, field trips, college applications/forms, testing information/forms/waivers and financial aid paperwork.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.



Responsibilities:

Specific duties include:

  • Work with target school staff to track and monitor participants' progress
  • Meet with participants periodically throughout the year
  • Supervise participants on various field trips
  • Provide workshops/seminars to program participants
  • Connect with junior and senior participants to seek out testing needs, such as waivers, preparatory courses/online learning or tutoring help in order to provide proper support
  • Oversee the implementation of the academic aspects of the program
  • Identify eligible program participants for recruitment purposes
  • Field calls and contacts with participants, parents and other interested parties/stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires approximately eight evening/weekend events per year



Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of experience working with Middle or High School students, preferably from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation are required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
