Job Description:

Development Operations (DO) Assembly Equipment Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer. The Project Engineer is responsible for manpower, material budget estimates, reporting project milestones and costs to date tracking. This encompasses communication monthly with stakeholders such as finance, program office, assembly, and operations in order to ensure tasking is on schedule, effective and correct. Assembly Equipment project engineers are responsible for ordering and tracking new and/or repaired tooling from internal and external sources to ensure on time delivery. Project Engineers must exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment during the development and use of assembly tooling in order to comply with Pratt and Whitney's culture of the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of Basis of Estimates (BOE) for commercial and government proposals
  • Provide project management assistance to the Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Manage project tasks to ensure tooling is delivered on time and within budget parameters.
  • Performs risk assessments and develop mitigation plans as needed
  • Prepare and present Earned Value (EV) status of all tasks that require Earned Value Management System (EVMS) input
  • The position requires excellent communication and team leadership skills as well as the ability to operate across a wide range of disciplines and management levels with both internal and external customers to ensure that task requirements are met
  • Interface with customer and supplier representatives to identify requirements and resolve assembly tooling related issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and a minimum of 3 years’ experience
  • Must be able to interpret and work from engineering and tool drawings
  • US Citizenship required for Government Contracts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree
  • RTX CAM (Control Account Manager) or EVMS experience or training
  • Knowledge and experience with Project Management toolsets (e.g., Agile, SAP, Primavera, or MS Project)
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, budgets, and schedules
  • Experience using and navigating Teamcenter and Unigraphics/NX
  • Knowledge of various types of special assembly support tooling
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices, jet engine assembly/disassembly and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to solve technical problems with minimal direction
  • Understanding of standard manufacturing methods
  • Ability to interface effectively with both internal and external customers
