Job Description
Loudoun County Family Services is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and established professional candidate for the Adult and Aging Intake Unit. The Department supports individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self-determination.
The successful candidate will join the Adult and Aging Unit in a diverse department that envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. This Adult and Aging Intake worker will support the Adult Services and Adult Protective Services team. The Adult and Aging Intake Specialist will serve as the first point of contact to the Adult and Aging Unit. This position will provide technical guidance, support, and training to the Adult and Aging Specialists and the Protective Services Hotline Specialists. This position will serve as the Adult and Aging outreach specialist and will be responsible for providing trainings to community partners about Adult and Aging Services. This position will work closely with the program supervisors to maintain program statistics and assist in tracking data to inform the unit's work.
The ideal candidate should have the following:
- Knowledge of AS and APS policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the aging process, and family dynamics.
- Ability to type information into automated data bases while conversing with callers over the phone.
- Ability to interview persons that walk-in.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated capacity to maintain case records, statistics, and other program information according to policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of social services systems for older adults and adults with disabilities, which reflects trauma-informed and strengths-based philosophy and values.
- Knowledge of government structure, operation, and pertinent regulatory framework and functions
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; three (3) years of related work experience in a social service field or child/adult welfare department; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree
- Bi-lingual skills in Spanish and English.
Special Requirements
- Successful candidates must be available to perform work during regular business hours and on call as required.
- This position is considered essential personnel and will require report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency (e.g., weather, transportation, disaster).
- Candidate may also be required to work and may be assigned to an alternate worksite(s) within the county to carry out duties that support operational needs.
- Ability to wear headsets for phone access.

Pass pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, Child Protective Services (CPS), and DMV. Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
