Welcome to The Maverick Hotel, basecamp for adventure in Eugene, Oregon. Located in the heart of Duck Country, we are central to everything the Willamette Valley has to offer and passionate about the great outdoors. Our Adventure Guides host travelers from around the world, readying them for every kind adventure—from University of Oregon sporting events to McKenzie River fishing guided tours. It’s our Adventure Guide’s job to welcome guests with a smile and ensure a high-level of care from check-in to check-out. The Maverick Hotel is a small boutique hotel located on Franklin Boulevard, directly across the street from the University of Oregon campus. We are a locally owned business and have a rich history in the hospitality sector. JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Adventure Guides are responsible for welcoming guests to the Maverick Hotel and ensuring a high-level of guest services is offered to guests throughout the course of their stay, from check-in to check-out. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, be passionate about internal and external guest service, possess good multi-tasking skills and be a detail-oriented team player.
Our Adventure Guides is responsible for assisting with the needs of our guests, being the expert in our area, ensuring every guest request is met and followed up on, creating and modifying guest reservations, answering phones, checking guests in and out of the hotel, and completed a daily checklist of routine tasks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Provides prompt, friendly service to ensure guest satisfaction and return visits.
- Greet and register arriving guests, provide room assignments, maintain guest privacy, and accommodate special requests when possible.
- Maintain a positive, friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests.
- Facilitate guest departures on a daily basis by following established procedures in order to close guest accounts.
- Promote and sell services/amenities of the Hotel.
- Promote repeat business by offering to create future reservations for guests.
- Courteously answer inquiries and guest requests.
- Process all guest mail, packages, messages, and faxes by receiving, sorting, notifying and distributing.
- Keep housekeeping and other departments informed of any special requests, late check-outs, and special need areas.
- Accurately, securely, and promptly handle cash and credit-card transactions. Use proper cash-handling methods by following established procedures. Ensure accuracy of transactions with the guest prior to check-out.
- Check all credit card transactions for validity before the end of the shift.
- Ensure all cash is balanced at shift end.
- Assist in other areas as needed, which may include: housekeeping.
- Help maintain a clean and professional lobby, entryway, back of house, and turnaround by dusting, vacuuming, cleaning tables, and wiping down door handles.
- Maintain certification for proper alcohol service.
- Be flexible in regards to work schedule, understanding that hospitality is a 24/7 industry and evenings and weekends are likely required.
- Learn, utilize, and ensure understanding of the Property Management System (StayNTouch)
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative work environment with all staff, supervisors, and managers.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests.
- Report to supervisor the needed repairs or unsafe conditions promptly.

Qualifications:
- Entry level position – training provided onsite.
- Must pass a pre-screen drug test
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull required load approx. 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Must be able to spend most of the day standing, kneeling, bend, carrying and walking.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be flexible in hours and days available to work, including weekends.
- Must be able to concentrate on repetitive tasks.
- Must have effective communication skills and must be able to work with a variety of people.
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.
