The After School at offers after-school tutoring, homework support, and project-based learning opportunities.The Program provides homework support to high school aged refugee and ELL youth. We are looking for outgoing, personable and reliable program coordinator for our school-based program at Daniel Elementary and Meadow Ridge . We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, patient and caring individual who are flexible, responsible, and can work equally well with refugee adults and children.
Iraqi Community Center of WA mission is to promote community empowerment, leadership development, self- reliance, and health promotion for newcomers to achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence through direct assistance and capacity-building.
Job Summary:
Youth Coordinator will manage a caseload of 20-45 students and delivers afterschool tutoring, Restorative Practice Circle Process facilitate monthly parent engagement nights.
· The right candidate be flexible and confident, can relate to black/brown young men of color. Have connection to the immigrant population of Kent.
· Developing community partnerships.
· Plan weekly Restorative Justice Circle sessions that engage youth and young adults Build inclusive environments, and incorporate youth voice.
· Able to conduct Restorative Justice Circle and healing Circles.
· Foster a program culture that elevates youth voice and supports social-emotional learning.
Coordinator's responsibilities:
- Supervise all aspects of a school-based after-school program
- Ensure safety and security of children enrolled
- Manage daily operations and coordinate with the school’s administration, teachers, and custodial staff
- Organize program logistics, such as schedules, lesson plan collection, snack and space, supply requests, and other programmatic needs
- Build relationships with the school principal and administrative team to facilitate overall positive after-school culture
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders (participants, parents, school staff and administration)
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance data and meet deadlines for data entry into database
- Manage Program Staff and promote their professional growth and development
- Participate in training opportunities
- Maintain accurate records for all staff, incident and accident reports, and other required documentation
- Review lesson plans weekly
- Support the organization mission and vision
- Ensure program content supports goals and outcomes
- Provide a high-quality learning environment and manage activities that extend the school day;
- Effectively attract and retain students through enthusiasm, teaching skill and patience;
- Communicate and collaborate with students' families to share individual strengths, successes and challenges;
- Follow designated schedule and curriculum, maintain routine for students;
- Gather, review, and use program data for program improvement
- Support and provide guidance to volunteers in the classroom.

- Ability to command respect and cooperation of an elementary classroom;
- Confidence to run a classroom alone;
- A team player who can collaborate with peers;
- Ability to assess and solve problems associated with elementary aged children;
- Ability to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; Or Associate’s degree and/or professional certificate plus two or more years of relevant experience can be substitute
- Minimum of two years working with school-age youth, ages 4-12 in a school/after-school setting, case management for families and youth ages 18-21 years old.
- First Aid/CPR certified (we train)
- Must take part in 30 hours of paid professional development
- All site-based staff must be fingerprinted and background checked
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $26.31 per hour
