POSITION TITLE: Assistant Aquatics Director

DEPARTMENT: Aquatics

STATUS: Part-Time

REPORTS TO: Aquatics Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Assistant Aquatics Director will be a professional staff member under the supervision of the

Aquatics Director and will work with the Aquatics Coordinator, instructors, lifeguards and swim coaches as needed. The Assistant Aquatics Director will substitute as a lifeguard, swim instructor or swim coach when needed, will help with the organization of programs and projects, and will work with the Aquatics

Director to enlist and train volunteers. Must be willing to obtain and/or keep all certifications necessary for this position current.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. An effective Assistant Aquatics Director requires commitment and a lot of effort, but the benefits you will receive are well worth the effort

2. Must have leadership and public relation skills

3. Be thorough in knowledge and application of all swim strokes (Butterfly, Back, Breaststroke,

Sidestroke, Elementary and Free), starts and turn techniques

4. Have the ability to organize programs and projects

5. Enlist and work with volunteers

6. Work with Aquatics Coordinator with swim team a swim lesson plans to be used for daily practices and/or sessions

7. An Assistant Aquatics Director must be willing to expand the certifications available and be able to help with keeping all staff certifications up to date

8. Attend monthly training meetings

9. Check and approve bi-weekly payroll

10. Monthly, quarterly and yearly patron counts

11. Help with scheduling of programs, lifeguards, swim coaches and swim instructors

12. Schedule days off in advance with Aquatics Director, when you are not available to be in the office

13. Be familiar with all programs scheduled dates and times

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

1. Communicate with people at all levels in a positive way
2. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
3. Ability to work efficiently and accurately on a computer using our software tools
4. Ability to support management and philosophies of the Denny Price Family YMCA
5. Must be extremely organized, accurate, reliable, and diligent in meeting deadlines
6. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
7. Confidentiality is imperative, the incumbent must be mature and discrete

Qualifications to be able to obtain:

1. Certified YMCA Lifeguard

2. Certified ARC CPR/PR, AED, and First Aid/or equivalent

3. Certified YMCA Swim Instructor

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
