YMCA JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: YMCA Childcare Assistant Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the direct supervision of the YMCA Childcare Director the YMCA Childcare Assistant Director will assist in the administration of the School Age Childcare program located at various locations in the community, the Wells Childcare Center, and the Summer Day Camp program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assistance in delivery of childcare and school age programs throughout the community.
2. Assist with development of curriculum and lesson plans for School Age and / or Preschool Instruction
3. Assist with development of daily program schedules and oversee their implementation.
4. Assist with development and implementing staffing plan for programs including recruiting, hiring and training of staff. Provide ongoing supervision of staff, leading of staff meetings and reviewing staff periodically for effectiveness and performance.
5. Be responsible for child safety and ensuring all policies are followed.
6. Working from an approved program plan, executes program delivery, assists in marketing
7. Assists in developing the annual budget and monitors the budget monthly.
8. Approves & tracks purchases for programs.
9. Working with the Finance Department ensures accurate billing and follow through on payment for services.
10. Work with parents to ensure their child’s successful participation in programs and resolve behavior issues related to their child’s participation
11.Acts as a consultant to the YMCA management team on issues pertaining to childcare.
12. Will be the lead administrator for some youth YMCA Special Events.
13.Serves as the State of Michigan off site Licensee Designee and is responsible for all compliance with State of Michigan school age regulations including all mandatory records and policies, keeps all licenses current and accurate. Resolves all known licensing deficiencies.
14. Understands childcare licensing rules and assists childcare director in day-to-day operations
15. Acts as a Leader in the YMCA Annual Campaign.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Extensive experience in childcare and meets the requirements for a program director for the State of Michigan LARA regulations 2. Knowledge of early childhood education and curriculum development 3. Good organizational and communication skills. 4. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. 5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Must have excellent communication skills. 2. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 3. Ability to visually inspect childcare program areas for safety. Review communication literature and materials, computer monitors, etc. 4. Must have the ability to perceive audio and visual alerts for emergency purposes. 5. Must be able to remain active for long periods of time. 6. Must be able to access all areas of program delivery sites and other assigned work spaces including pool areas, closets, stairwells, locker rooms, wellness center, and off site program floor plans.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
