POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Assistant Director of Shelter Operations
Program: Shelter
Reports to: Director of Shelter Operations

POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for the supervision and support of the shelter direct care supervisory staff and ensuring the safe and effective operation of the shelter program.
This position is responsible for developing a program which meets recreational, educational and cultural activities.
Hibiscus Children’s Center utilizes the Sanctuary Model, which is a trauma informed organizational change model. The Sanctuary Model organizes both our treatment ante the way we run our organization. It is an inclusive model as it is a way of guiding leadership, staff, clients families and our community to share the same language.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Promotes mission and vision of Hibiscus Children's Center
➢ Assists with ensuring compliance with assigned, related contract standards and enforce policy and procedures
➢ Ensures adequate staff to meet the staffing ratio
➢ Develop and oversee the staff schedule
➢ Communicates with Program Director staffing and programmatic needs
➢ Assumes and assists with responsibilities of the Program Manager in his/her absence and as directed
➢ Supervision and evaluation of supervisors and fill in supervisors
➢ Develops, coaches and mentors supervisors and fill in supervisors
➢ Assists in the implementation coordination and training of new employees and policies and procedures
➢ Assists the Director of Shelter Operations with the emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring the completion of such within contractual guidelines and internal policies
➢ Coordinate and manage the children’s grievance process
➢ Conducts weekly Community Group meetings with children
➢ Participates in the administrative on call
➢ Representative for Risk Management Committee
➢ Provides direct child care coverage as needed or directed
➢ Attends Treatment Team, compiles necessary data as needed and directed.
➢ Maintains open communication with school administrators and teachers.
➢ Coordinates and attends all school conferences including MTTS and IEP meetings.
➢ Participates in service planning and discharge planning including preparation of all required reports.

➢ Attends, as requested, networking opportunities and meetings.
➢ Assists provisions of special speakers and presentations at the Shelter as needed.
➢ Oversees the involvement of residents in community activities, services and community partnerships.
➢ Assists the Director of Regulatory and Grant Operations with the completion of reports.
➢ Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
➢ Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field preferred
➢ Minimum two (2) years experience with at risk children/teens and or equivalent combination of education and experience
➢ Two (2) years supervisory experience
➢ At least 23 years of age
➢ Current certification in CPR, First Aid and TCI
➢ Must pass level 2 background clearance and drug test
➢ Meets requirements to operate agency vehicles, including meeting insurance standards and valid Florida Driver’s License
➢ Meets all staff requirements specified in Florida Administrative Code Chapter 65C-14
➢ Ability to lift 40 lbs
➢ Ability to work outdoors in various temperature
➢ Ability to work with diverse backgrounds; ability to accept individuals of a different philosophy, culture, or socio-economic background
➢ Ability to work flexible schedule and shifts, as necessary

REQUIREMENTS:
➢ Complete 40 hours of training annually
➢ Successfully complete Sanctuary Model Training and annual refreshers
➢ Successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and all annual refreshers
➢ Successfully complete 24 hours of Human Trafficking Training and all annual refreshers
