Associate Controller / Contracts Administrator (Direct Hire)

As Associate Controller / Contracts Administrator you will be responsible for preparing, documenting, examining, analyzing, negotiating, and revising contracts with government entities, private organizations and subcontractors. You will maximize return on financial assets by directing the accounting close cycles, and ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems and conducting periodic internal audits, working closely with senior leadership to establish and maintain budgets and business best practices. Associate Controller / Contracts Administrator responsibilities span accounting and business administration domains including:
Manage all accounting operational functions including close cycles and internal and external financial reporting
Prepare and maintain budgets
Calculate, report, and manage indirect billing rates used for government invoicing
Ensure financial and process compliance by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing best practices through policies, procedures, and internal auditing
Develop and monitor business performance metrics
Manage and maintain accumulation of all financial data required to demonstrate accurate and responsive financial functions
Provide management with information vital to operations decision-making processes
Protect property and assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
Oversee the preparation and administration of contracts including communication of requirements to technical staff
Monitor contract performance including the reporting and status of deliverables
Ensure compliance with local and U.S. government regulations
Conduct internal audit and Coordinate for external audits
Prepare budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Review and negotiate contract terms and protect company’s IP by maintaining NDAs
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Required qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred, however, business, contract management, or finance degrees will be considered
Minimum of 5 years of professional finance experience
Supervisory experience
In-depth experience using QuickBooks
Experience interfacing with high-profile clients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Excellent organization and analytical Skills
People and processes management experience
Standards development experience
Audit, budget development and forecasting experience
Ability to work in a paper-free environment
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business, contract management, or finance
Experience as a compliance officer or advisor
Experience working with government contracts (GSA), including time and materials, firm-fixed price, fixed-price, and IDIQ contracts, and interfacing with national and federal government clients
FAR/DFARS knowledge
The Associate Controller / Contracts Administrator is a full-time, direct hire, hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) opportunity in the Amherst area. Salary range is $75, 000-$100, 000 annually depending upon experience.
