Special Note: Requires extreme confidentiality. Requires non-standard schedule to include days, nights, weekends and holidays; to be scheduled no more than 29 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional who is committed to valuing people with respect and integrity. They must possess a confident judicial temperament with a steady demeanor. They must have the ability to remain impartial, ethical, and demonstrate good judgement. They must be a person of exceptional character and have an understanding of the principles of civil and criminal law, court procedures, rules of evidence, appeals procedures, and knowledge of the Municipal Court and the Judicial System. Prior judicial experience is preferred. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work at a fast pace while also handling the stress and the pressure of a Judicial Role. They must have the ability to interact with judicial and administrative staff and make sound, practical, and timely judgments. They must possess the ability to maintain composure with diverse populations. The ideal candidate is articulate, has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills, superior active listening skills, exceptional administrative skills and the ability and willingness to learn and adapt. They must have a flexible work schedule to include on-call, weekends, participate in judicial education as required, and be available to perform wedding ceremonies both during and after normal business hours.

Applicants for employment opportunities should be aware of the Lake Havasu City policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy. All positions within the City are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment.
The City reserves the right to consider only the most highly qualified applicants. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test. Appointment subject to successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after offer of employment has been made.
