The Mayborn School of Journalism is an ACEJMC-accredited school with Texas’s only accredited journalism master’s program. We are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in the fifth largest media market in the country. We enroll approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students.
Graduates have won many national and international awards including Cannes Lions and Pulitzer Prizes. The school offers students multi-platform professional opportunities and is home to an award-winning student newspaper, the North Texas Daily ( www.NTDaily.com), a community-access television station, an online radio station, and student-run photography and ad/PR agencies. The school also hosts the nationally acclaimed annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. We offer study abroad programs in the United Kingdom, Japan, Spain, and Mexico.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary
The Frank W. & Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas in Denton invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Video, Broadcast & Multimedia, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2023.
We seek an energetic colleague with a doctoral degree with an established research agenda and professional experience in video/digital journalism.
With a proposed reinvigorated concentration launching in fall 2022, there are opportunities to shape the future of our sequence, and we invite candidates who are enthusiastic about collaboration with existing faculty.
In addition to teaching courses (2-2), the faculty member will conduct research, serve on committees, mentor students, and be engaged in the life of the school. The field of scholarship is open, but could include multicultural journalism/storytelling, sports media, or industry studies.
Minimum Qualifications
By the time of appointment, candidates must have a doctorate in Television Journalism, Broadcast, Visual Communication/Media, or a related field.
The applicant must be proficient in television/video storytelling, in the Adobe Creative Suite and in social/digital/video media platforms, equipment and technologies.
Applicants should have a clear research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal applicant will have professional experience in some form of television or video journalism and a portfolio of professional work.
Applicants with ability to pursue external grant funding are preferred.
