General Information:

Assignment for the 2022-23 school year only. Subsequent assignment beyond Spring semester 2023 is contingent upon continuous funding and position availability. Pursuant to Section 4(3)(b) of the Students First Act of 2011, time employed in this position shall not count towards non-probationary status or tenure with the Mobile County Public School System due to the fact that the funding and duration of this position is finite.

The duties include but are not limited to:

    Answers telephone, takes messages, transfers calls, talks to parents and communicates with the general public, schools and system departments
    Answers Hot Line calls and gives out information to the public regarding assessments and/or directs to a social worker as needed
    Types various correspondence for social workers and supervisor
    Acts as liaison in getting information from schools to socials workers as needed
    Maintains multi-function copier machines and associated equipment is in good working order
    Maintains supplies for copier (paper, toner, etc)
    Orders forms and other materials to be printed by the Print Shop
    Copies materials for social workers and supervisor workshops
    Distributes outgoing mail
    Maintains logs/spreadsheets of resources for social workers and supervisor
    Updates/maintains school uniform policy information for social workers
    Assists social workers in providing quarterly/yearly updated lists of Temporary Shelter and Long Term Sheltered students to all schools
    Maintains a log of all request for assistance including bus transportation, uniforms, shelter referrals, hurricane impacted families, etc.
    Acts as liaison between ESL and Social Services Department regarding ESL Temporary Shelter families
    Acts as point of contact/liaison between parents, schools, departments and social workers
    Orders supplies for social workers
    Assists in travel arrangements for social workers for conferences
    Sends mail-outs for social workers
    Assists social workers with multiple office tasks
    Performs routine office procedures as needed
    Assists with PowerSchool, Wise Social Services Program (assessments) and Nextgen
    Other duties as assigned by the Social Services supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent
    Must have knowledge of computer programs including spreadsheets
    Significant experience with Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
    Requires a demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, follows instructions and uses independent judgement
    Must be able to communicate clearly with the public and employees, works well with others, adhere to confidentiality policies, and organize and maintain accurate records
    Must be well groomed and have good grammar and spelling ability
    Must be able to operate standard office equipment

**Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.**
