Chaplain - Spiritual Resources

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Schedule: Full time – 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Serves as a member of the spiritual care team providing for the spiritual and religious needs of patients, families and staff of St. Mary Medical Center. Extends the Catholic Health Care Ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange by supporting the mission, vision and values of the St. Joseph Health System.

Reporting to the Director of Spiritual Care, and working in close collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Staff Chaplain provides a ministry of presence, journeys with those in search of healing and hope, and provides care in complex/sensitive situations.

The staff chaplain develops, conducts, coordinates, and promotes educational programs that address the spiritual support and well being of the hospital community, equips community churches and congregations in providing ministry to hospitalized members of their congregation, and builds awareness of spiritual care and ethical considerations.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree Divinity/Theology. Or equivalent educ/experience
• Coursework/Training 3-4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education, Association of Clinical Pastoral Education. Or equivalent educ/experience
• Coursework/Training Environmental orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Certification or working towards certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) and Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).
• Ecclesiastical endorsement from the Bishop of the Diocese and/or Religious Superior, or appropriate denominational group.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years Pastoral/Spiritual Care experience in a health care setting.
