The role you’ll contribute:
The Chemistry and/or Hematology Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that quality control, instrument maintenance, proficiency surveys, Joint Commission and/or other applicable standards, and all other federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to laboratory accreditation are adhered to and well documented. This job description is in addition to Medical Technologist job class

In the areas of assignment (Chemistry and/or Hematology as designated by job title):
- Follows departmental and hospital policies and procedures
- Works harmoniously with other FHHD lab employees, clinical departments, non-clinical departments administrative and medical directors to foster a spirit of teamwork and shared mission
- Reports to the Laboratory Manager at Sebring for all technical and administrative issues
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of Sebring Core Lab.
- Oversees the implementation of new methodologies including (but not limited to) validation, correlation, quality control (and IQCP where applicable), procedural development, updating competency assessments, and consultation with the laboratory medical director
- Monitors compliance with local, state and federal law and accrediting agency requirements
- Ensures all Joint Commission, State of Florida, CLIA and/or other applicable standards, rules and regulations are being observed.
- In coordination with Laboratory Manager, is responsible for laboratory staffing, including but not limited to hiring, evaluating, scheduling and counseling.
- In coordination with Laboratory Manager, performs job evaluations – 3 months and annually.
- Regularly meets with personnel to review problems and to establish goals, policies and objectives.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Proof of High School Diploma
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related chemical, physical, or science
- Minimum four (4) years of laboratory experience required with at least 2 years in the area supervised
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License in Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Microbiology, Immunohematology.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- MT(ASCP) or equivalent national board certification.
