Summary

This is a part time, limited term position during the summer to assist the Nutritional Coordinator with meal preparation, dish washing, kitchen clean-up, food delivery, meal transportation and unloading groceries. This person must be able to treat each child and their families with respect, dignity, and caring; and be supportive of cultural differences, special needs, and different family structures. This position reports to, is accountable to, and is supervised and evaluated by the Nutritional Coordinator.

This position is subject to a Department of Children and Families background check as per State Licensing Childcare Requirements.

Duties

I) Specific Duties

A) Meal Preparation
i) Wash and cut up fruits and vegetables
ii) Make sandwiches
iii) Package food and transport to other sites
iv) Set up meal carts

B) Dish washing
i) Wash dishes, pots and pans by hand and then sanitize them by machine.

C) Kitchen clean up
i) Put away dishes, kitchen tools and appliances, Clean counters, stove and refrigerator.
ii) Keep the kitchen clean, orderly and safe in accordance with sate and local health codes to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.

D) Meal Transportation
i) load food into car and assist with delivery to other sites
ii) unload food deliveries, put away food when delivered.

E) Comply with Red Caboose policies, work rules and state licensing regulations.

F) Interact respectfully with staff, children and parents.

G) Other duties that fall within the scope of the job description as directed by your supervisor.
iii) Deliver carts to classrooms/eating rooms.
iv) Assist Site Supervisors ensuring all supplies, food, and beverages are packed and available on field trips.
v) Record number of children at each meal and return to the Billing Coordinator by the 5th of the next month.

D) Maintain food safety
i) Store food according to State Licensing regulations.
ii) Record temperature of food upon delivery on a form to be returned to the Nutritional Coordinator monthly.
iii) Record the temperature of each refrigerator and freezer daily on a form to be returned to the Nutritional Coordinator monthly.

E) Keep all dishes, utensils and kitchen supplies clean
i) Wash and sanitize dishes.
ii) Put away air-dried dishes from the previous meal.

F) Follow all relevant State Licensing, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and City of Madison regulations and/or standards.

G) Keep the kitchen orderly and safe
i) Clean and restock carts for every meal/snack.
ii) Keep the kitchen organized in a clear and understandable way.
iii) Keep sinks, floor, appliances and all surfaces in kitchen clean.
iv) Coordinate the programs recycling efforts.
v) Ensure that a sufficient supply of paper products and cleaning products is available.

H) Communicate with Camp Caboose staff
i) Communicate with teachers regarding variations in meal times.
ii) Communicate with Site Supervisors regarding tasks that need to be completed after the kitchen shift has ended.
iii) Communicate with the Nutritional Coordinator as needed.
iv) Be aware of childrens dietary restrictions and allergies.
v) Attend Camp Caboose staff development meeting.

I) Other duties that fall within the scope of the job description as directed by your supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications
A) Must have experience cooking for large groups of people.
B) Must be at least 18 years old.
C) Must be able to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
D) Must be able to use kitchen euipment and appliances.
