JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Responsible for filing all Circuit/Family Court paperwork. The job also includes creating new case folders, answering mail requests and conducting record searches.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the supervision of the County Clerk.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class may be called upon to do any and all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform).

Perform accurate filing and clerical work involving several offices within the Circuit/Family Court Division.
Creating and numbering new case folders.
Sorting and distributing mail.
Mailing files and paperwork to other courts.
Answering correspondence received from citizens requesting documents.
Conducting record searches.
Perform related work as required

DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or QUALIFICATIONS: An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience.

Graduation from an accredited high school.
Reasonable experience of three to six months in responsible clerical work, preferable including contact with legal terminology and court practices.
Must be a Notary Public (bondable).
Reasonable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Reasonable knowledge of Court procedures and legal terminology.
Reasonable skill and accuracy in performing clerical and related tasks.
Ability to assemble information, compose and prepare accurate records, legal forms and reports.
Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.
Ability to work effectively with other employees.
Ability to use extreme discretion in handling of confidential and suppressed information.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, moving arms, hands, back and entire body. Ability to lift and carry files, records, books and indexes weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds on a routine basis. Ability to reach, bend or squat to access office files. Ability to see, hear and speak effectively and without limitations. Ability to climb ladders and step stools to access files. Additional Information
