Primary responsibilities include prosecution of misdemeanors, and traffic violations that occur within the City of Gardner and violations of Gardner City Ordinances. Manages all aspects of prosecution of violations of City ordinances and represents the City in Municipal Court. Services would include attendance at Municipal Court sessions, needed preparation for such sessions, and necessary correspondence with Court staff. Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree in law and at least one year of experience as a practicing attorney. Must possess a license to practice law in the state of Kansas and be in good standing with the Kansas Supreme Court. Prefer some trial experience. Formal application, rating of education and experience; and successful completion of oral interview; reference check; physical and drug screen; and background checks are required. Job related tests including assessments may be required. This position is appointed by the Mayor. Hours: Commit 40 hours a month to Gardner Municipal Court through court dockets and case communications. Open Until Filled
