Overview:
Madigan Army Medical Center is seeking Clinical Psychologists for the Embedded Behavioral Health Clinics on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). This clinic model is an early intervention and treatment structure of Behavioral Health that promotes Soldier readiness. It provides multidisciplinary Behavioral Health care to Soldier in close proximity to their unit's work area and in close coordination with unit leaders. Duties include conducting psychological assessments of active duty service members with a wide variety of psychological disorders that affect intellectual, cognitive, behavioral or emotional function, providing individual and group therapy, psychoeducational sessions, and psychotherapeutic interventions.
Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on the Puget Sound, in Washington State, JBLM is near the city of Lakewood, 10 minutes from Tacoma and 20 minutes from Olympia, the state capitol. JBLM is situated in a key location along Interstate 5, allowing easy access to Seattle, Tacoma, and the welcoming neighboring communities. Although the Army and Air Force missions have changed over the years, one thing has not changed—the natural setting of the base. Majestic Mount Rainier looms on the horizon, towering over the other peaks of the Cascade Range. From the mountains to the deep waters of Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean, the local areas abound in natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. Camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and new sports are a way of life in Washington State.

Duties
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments for increased compliance and efficacy.
- Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of treatment for behavioral health patients.
- Determine the appropriate psychological test and monitor administration for quality assurance.
- Perform evidence-based individual and group counseling for patients with acute mental health conditions.
- Develop, monitor, and document comprehensive treatment plans to restore and rehabilitate patients with personal, emotional and/or mental illnesses.
- Screen, interview, and perform bio-psycho-social evaluations utilizing principles and practices of psychological counseling.

Basic Requirement for a Clinical Psychologist:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, in a child, pediatric or adolescent treatment population: conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments; providing crisis intervention; and providing individual or group therapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction
