Coating Compounder (Bathmaker) Job at Mativ
Overview
This position is responsible for performing all tasks associated with blending water-based coatings used on a high-speed paper converting machine. This position works as part of a 3-person operating crew to meet quality and production goals.
This position has a starting rate of $25.26 hourly, with a $0.50 shift differential premium on 2nd and 3rd shift. Higher classes of Coating Compounder pay up to $26.43 hourly, plus shift differential on off shifts.

The responsibilities of this position include:
- Following all safety procedures and rules.
- Blending coatings exactly as defined in a written formula recipe.
- Accurately using and reading scales of various sizes.
- Transporting chemicals, paper rolls, quality samples, and production materials to and from the machine to meet production requirements.
- Accurately performing mathematical calculations related to production.
- Performing grade changeovers and set-ups.
- Maintaining accurate coating logs on paper and in a computer system.
- Assisting with operation of the machine.
- Maintaining housekeeping of the equipment and surrounding area.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to work a weekly rotating shift schedule.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting, with preferable experience handling or blending liquid or dry raw materials. 1 year of experience preferred.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to production.
- Experience using computer systems and software in a manufacturing setting. This position requires a high amount of computer use to accurately capture inventory and job records.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to accurately capture production records.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees on the same crew, incoming and outgoing crews, and the management team.
- Ability to plan ahead with little oversight.
- Ability to transport material with a fork or clamp truck, and maintain an organized production environment.
