Rebound is the largest orthopedic and neurosurgical practice in the Portland-Vancouver area with an array of sub-specialties including orthopedics, brain and spine care, sports medicine, physiatry, and physical therapy. We are looking for a full time Coding Specialist to join our wonderful business office team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, problem solving, and decision making skills; Ability to work with a great deal of accuracy and attention to detail; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Responsibilities: :

• Complete charge passing as assigned.
• Review charge passing data for accuracy and process charges in computer system. Identify pertinent information on charges passed by provider/Robin services for proper completion and accuracy and returns to provider/Robin services for needed corrections.
• Review chart notes and makes changes to codes if appropriate. Notate reason for change according to protocol.
• Enter/edit data based on office policies, payer policies and specific coding criteria.
• Submit QA feedback to Robin services on coding accuracy for assigned providers
• Identify potential issues with insurance set up on patient accounts and task to appropriate team for correction
• Review claim edits for correction as assigned by supervisor.
• Review denials from Business Office, make corrections for rebilling or provide explanation as needed.
• Attend meetings and workshops as directed by supervisor.
• Strive to meet turnaround benchmark of 72 hours
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required: :

• High school graduate or GED.
• Coding and Billing coursework certificate of completion or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
• CPC Certified Procedural Coder Certification preferred.
• Two years of experience with coding and/or reimbursement activities, preferably in a specialty group setting.
• Knowledge of coding policies and procedures, reimbursement practices.
• Knowledge of coding and clinic operating policies.
• Skill in using computer and calculator.
• Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions.
• Ability to work effectively with patients and co-workers.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Type 35 WPM. Word Processing & Spreadsheet experience preferred.
