Position

The Content writer helps SEPA communicate technical topics clearly and concisely to a broad audience. They approach their writing from an analytical perspective, focusing on conclusions supported by facts, data, surveys and real world examples. This person will be at the forefront of the clean energy transformation, working with Subject Matter Experts and SEPA members to synthesize insights, highlight successes and distill lessons learned to develop engaging and actionable content for all audiences to accelerate their carbon-free journey.

The ideal candidate will have proven writing, proofreading, and editing expertise across a variety of formats. A strict adherence to deadlines for multiple assignments is critical for success.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 with the target being around $80,000 based on location and experience.

Requirements:
  • Works closely with subject matter experts internally and externally to successfully communicate complex ideas in a concise and engaging manner for multiple audiences.
  • Researches, writes, and edits materials to drive engagement across all SEPA audiences and to advance the SEPA mission. Deliverables include articles, reports, briefs, case studies, op-eds, blogs, web copy, multimedia story-telling, social media, and conference presentations.
  • Guides other writers through the outline, draft, and edit process to ensure deliverables are of maximum value to intended audiences, including repurposing existing content to create multiple deliverables.
  • Adheres to in-house style guide and SEPA voice.
  • Reviews and copy edits content developed by other members of the SEPA team.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a content/technical writing or editing position.
  • Experience working with research or project teams to create publications for print, web, and multimedia channels.
  • Passion for clean energy issues and the SEPA mission; prior knowledge or work related to clean energy technologies, environmental issues or electric utilities is a plus.
  • Familiarity and proven success with working with various stakeholders and SMEs to achieve success moving projects to completion.
