Job Summary:

The Controller will direct and oversee all financial activities of the company including preparation of monthly financial statements, management profitability reporting, cash flow projection/management as well as summaries and forecasts as required for future business growth and general economic outlook. The Controller is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating all of the following activities to ensure best practices: finance, budgeting, financial management, financial analysis, accounting, audit/financial reporting, entrepreneurial business operations. The Controller provides information on various projects, research items, business ventures and other highly confidential operational activities for the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, management reports, forecasts, and other reporting as necessary.
  • Partner with the external tax accountant to ensure annual tax returns and quarterly tax estimates are prepared and filed timely and accurately.
  • Oversee the accounting department and all aspects of the company finances; communicate regularly with senior management regarding the company’s financial position and to offer direction as necessary.
  • Analyze the organization’s operations to identify opportunities for reorganization, cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Study long-range economic trends, projecting opportunities for future company growth. Estimate requirements for capital, land, building, and an increase in work force.
  • Supervise investment of funds; work with banks and/or investment bankers to raise additional capital as required for expansion.
  • Partner with senior management on operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and President based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.

Financial and Operational Management

  • Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics. Prepare and communicate the financial status to the owners monthly.
  • Ensure the finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and monitor the use of all funds.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based and departmental accounting.
  • Coordinate all audit activities, as necessary.
  • Review finance and IT related procedures, processes, and administration, recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward.
  • Prepare various payroll, insurance, loan requirement reports as needed ensuring confidentiality is maintained.

Qualifications:

The Controller will be a seasoned leader with at least 8-10 years of broad finance and accounting experience, ideally with audit experience as well as experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making recommendations to senior leadership.

The Controller will have the following experience and attributes:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required, ideally with an MBA or related degree. CPA designation preferred.
  • Executive level financial management experience highly desired.
  • Mature and proactive, with experience working as a business partner to senior management.
  • Knowledge of accounting computer application systems and strong Microsoft EXCEL skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent team player committed to lifelong learning.
  • Hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
